I immigrated to the United States with my family at the age of 7 in pursuit of a better life, but it left a sour taste in my mouth.
I missed the joy of having bannann peze with every meal, tasting the flavors of Epis, eating fritay, and KFC didn’t quite hit it for me as much as our local chicken.
To be honest, I didn’t only miss home. I felt so disconnected. On top of that, I hated the way Haiti was depicted in the media.
Cooking delicious Haitian food I learned from my father became a means through which I could find and revel in my identity. I might sound crazy, but…
What, Why, When, and How food is farmed, purchased, prepared, and even consumed in Haiti is quite peculiar and true to the warmness of our people and their reality.
So, I sat down ten (10) years ago and wrote a hardcover coffee table cookbook, Haiti Uncovered: A Regional Adventure into the Art of Cuisine. I signed it as a tribute to my brothers and sisters scattered abroad and everyone else who still finds beauty in Haiti, celebrating the richness of our culturally diverse cuisine—undoubtedly one of the best in the whole Caribbean (*not up for debate).

For the last ten (10) years, I’ve delivered Haitian culture to hundreds of people through cooking shows, fun conversations, food, and travel across all my platforms (YouTube, IG, and Facebook).
